It is also the first IVF laboratory in India to obtain a ISO 9001:2008 Women's Center has been providing the most comprehensive women's healthcare needs solution for the last 26 years. This unit and its back up facilities represent one of the best set up centers in South India. It deals with the entire spectrum of women's healthcare needs, catering to women in several districts of North Western Tamil Nadu and also serves as a tertiary care referral center for southern Tamilnadu, parts of Kerala and Karnataka. The centers specific areas of expertise are broadly categorized into three areas: - Feto-maternal medicine - including high-risk pregnancy care
- Reproductive medicine - infertility management through technologies like IVF (test tube babies) and
- Clinical obstetrics and gyneacology
A highly qualified and professional team of consultants with relevant education, training and experience is at the core of all the services provided under one roof. The combined work experience of the professional staff is well over a 100 years in the field of women’s health. The center's activities are headed by its Clinical Director Dr. Mirudhubashini Govindarajan FRCS(C) and Managing Director Dr. K. S. Govindarajan. The center is attached to a 400 bed multi specialty hospital in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. The Women's Center team consists of professionals in infertility management, embryology, clinical obstetrics and gynecology, andrology, laparoscopic (key hole), endoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeons, gynec-oncology, ultrasonology, adolescent care, pregnancy, new born care and neonatology. It has state of the art facilities to deal with infertility related problems and a well set up NICU. The team believes that preventive care is as important as quality treatment and stresses protocols such as cancer screening, menopause management, nutritional management and prenatal exercise classes. The team also consists of nursing aides, physiotherapists, dieticians, and counselors. This group of committed professionals at the Center provide round-the-clock, responsive and caring health delivery. This team work has resulted in exemplary achievements over the last two and a half decades, while not forgetting basic women’s health care issues. Women's Center is India's first among only a handful of organizations to obtain an ISO 9001:2000 certification for its assisted reproductive technologies laboratory. Women's Center is one of only six centers recognized by the national board to provide fellowship training in reproductive medicine. It also has started and conducts advanced diploma courses in maternal and child health under the auspices of The Bharathiar University. In addition to its focus on quality and continuous improvement, Women's Center also gives back to the medical community through regular monthly CME programs.
